Letters of Josiah Perry and other family members, 1857-1887 (bulk 1862-1864).

Letters of Perry, chiefly to his wife, describe battles and camp life from his enlistment in August 1862 to July 1864 when he was wounded and discharged. Topics of interest include the battles of 2nd Bull Run, Antietam and Gettysburg, Perry's disapproval of criticism of Union generals by northern papers, and his personal observations on the war, politics and religion. The collection includes about 30 additional pieces of family correspondence.
